In Prism: these instructions apply to new configurations – if the store already was using Global Payments/Genius, it is better to leave their existing settings alone and ONLY update the IP address of the new Genius pin pad in WS Preferences
Refer to the Retail Pro Site for more information/documentation on setting up and configuring EFT for retailers in the US – documentation is usually under “Cayan”, “Genius” or “Global Payments”
In addition, these devices come pre-programmed from Global Payments to work at specific stores, so they cannot simply be swapped around from store to store. In order to make one work for another store, the retailer needs to work with Global Payments Support directly to get it changed.
Configure the Store Level Settings:
1. On the computer, launch Prism and log in
2. Go to Admin Console – Nodes – Node Selection and select the specific store you want to configure for Genius/Global Payments (ie- “Set Context” to be that store)
3. Next, go to Transactions – Tenders – EFT Server Configuration. You will get a screen like this (change the settings and fill out the appropriate fields)
3. Click Save at the bottom to save the settings
Configure the WS Level Settings:
1. In Admin Console, drill down to the appropriate store and find the computer you want to configure for the pin pad and click on the pencil/edit button next to it
2. Click HAL Settings at the top:
3. Select the PC you want to set the pin pad up for in the drop down
4. Click on Genius Device at the top:
5. Click Add Genius Device.
a. In the “LDN” field, enter in a logical name for the pin pad. Typically, Retail IQ would put the do something like this: ”PC Name-Genius”
b. Enter in the IP address of the Genius pin pad in the IP Address field
c. Enter 8080 as the port.
6. Save the settings
7. TEST: Have the customer test a credit card they can do a sale (using a small Fee or Shipping charge) and then do a return for the same thing to get their money back
